Racing update

Nearly half way through the British Mini Bike racing calendar it's time to do an update on our rider Gary Jacob's progress.

The season opener was at Teeside – round 1.

Friday practise: for this event, we entered Friday practise for some bike time, it's been a long winter and with some bike alterations it is best to get to grips with it.

Saturday practise and qualifying: Feeling good we enter the first timed session times as follows

Practise 1 lap time – 1:25.397	17 th of 30
Practise 2 lap time – 1:22.170	12 th of 32
Qualifying 1 lap time – 1:21.925	15 th of 37
Qualifying 2 lap time – 1:21.460	11 th of 33

Steady improvements all day, very happy with grid position for race 1, this was for the 140s only but I entered the 160 class for race day only positions and times as follows

Overall a very successful weekend, improved all weekend and some high finishes with over 30 bikes on track, lack of fitness being the biggest factor, 6 races is a lot!

Round 2 Rowrah

Being so far away we didn’t attend Friday practise – BAD MOVE

We entered Saturday excited, new track nice weather, but it wasn’t to be, we had a plague filled day with front brake issues.

We were riding a new circuit with no front brake confidence, with a juggle between brake fade and brake binding, after a few attempts we found it best to replace the entire system, however heading into qualifying with the knowledge of having to bed an entire new brake felt uncomfortable.

Qualifying 1 lap time – 57.028	14th of 25
Qualifying 2 lap time – 56.487	13th of 27

Sunday race day, busy day as we entered the 160 class for race day alone

First up race 1 160 class	start position – 25th	finish position – 16th	lap time 56.597
Next up race 1 140 class	start position – 15th	finish position – DNF

Race 1 140 class we ended up in a crash, after hitting the ground a following bike had little space to go so his way was up and over my sliding body. This lead to a dislocated shoulder and a trip to North Cumbria hospital

We missed the following round in the bid to recover as best as possible, and round 4 was cancelled by BMB, so the long wait for Ellough Park.

Round 5 Ellough

This was a nervous round, first time back after a nasty injury after a large break of seat time, but here we go!

Steady all day, happy to keep the bike upright.

Sunday race day, we only entered the 140 class for this weekend, not willing to have to over stress the shoulder.

Very happy with these results, shoulder felt good and knowing there was some left in the tank filled us with confidence! Hopefully the early fall at round two is the last of the season.
