European bodies urge users to speed up the R404a phase out.

A brand new publication from the European air conditioning and refrigeration organisation is urging organisations to move quickly to counteract the impact of ongoing reductions in F-Gas quota over the next three years. R404a refrigerant is already increasing in price as supplies dwindle in the run-up to the total phase out.

The brochure calls for an acceleration in the R404a phase out by replacing existing equipment with newer models or using an R404a replacement gas.

Four major heating, ventilation and air conditioning bodies are calling for an immediate stop to the installation of R404a systems to meet the 2018 HFC quota restrictions. This has been coming for some time as the R404a refrigerant is phased out and stocks become increasingly difficult and expensive to course.

The brochure also advises users of air conditioning equipment reduce leakages and make sure that they are using the right size equipment to reduce waste. As businesses feel the squeeze of increased prices, this is seen by the European Partnership for Energy and the Environment (EPEE) as a way to reduce costs as well as to minimise environmental damage.

If you may be affected by the R404a phase out and want to talk to use about a replacement refrigerant, this is a great time to get in touch with us for friendly, impartial advice.
