We're helping heal the ozone layer!

Just like the A-Team, we love it when a plan comes together. That's why Nasa's recent announcement that the hole in the ozone layer has shrunk and is on track to heal up altogether by the end of the century is great news.

This is why we've been helping business handle the phase out of ozone depleting gases such as R404a and R22, common in many air conditioning units.

Ozone layer depletion was caused by high levels of chlorine and bromine in the atmosphere - a by-product of CFCs that were common in air conditioning units before the Montreal Protocol saw them banned in an effort to reverse the damage being done to the ozone layer. The ozone layer exists to protect us from ultraviolent radiation emitted by the sun, so its protection is vital for life on earth.

Although total healing of the ozone layer is a long way off - Nasa think we could see it gone altogether by 2080 - the progress made in healing the ozone seemed unimaginable only a few years ago so this is an excellent result.

We've worked hard to ensure that the phase out of ozone depleting gases causes as little inconvenience as possible to our customers, so we are delighted with this announcement. If you'd like to find out more, or see if we can help you, please get in touch.
