How does indoor air quality affect staff productivity?

Anyone who's ever been stuck in a sweltering hot, stuffy office space will tell you that nobody works at their best under such conditions. Now, however it's official, says Harvard University.

Researchers at Harvard compared the results of cognitive function tests taken in well-ventilated, green buildings against the same tests taken in traditional building environments. The results were starker than expected; people in buildings with better indoor air quality scored TWICE as high as those in ordinary buildings.

The results clearly show how levels of carbon dioxide and organic compounds impact on brain function but a poorly ventilated building has also been shown to lead to higher levels of staff sickness.

The implications for businesses are clear; investing in air quality will make your staff more efficient, productive and healthy. What would that do for your bottom line?
